Born here in Santa Barbara a few years back. In 1970 I saw the movie Woodstock and knew I had to grab a piece of that energy. I started playing guitar in 7th grade and my first band--Fresh Grease-- played at an assembly in 9th grade at La Colina Junior High (Stones, Hendrix, Steppenwolf, Grand Funk). In 10th grade I branched out and started playing piano after getting hooked on that blues-boogie woogie-barrel house kinda thang.
Early musical influences include blues, James Taylor, Taj Mahal, Santana, Joe Cocker, Allman Brothers, Credence, Leon Russell (note the "white guys singing like black guys theme). My first bar gig was at 20 with the Driving Sideways Blues Band. Later, I played with P.F. Flyers, Tink and the Babylonians, The Elevators, and the Duke Mitchell Band, among others. 1986 was a brush with fame, playing in a band that backed Bo Diddley at a club in San Luis. When not playing music, I like to spend time with friends and my kids Dylan (19) and Emma (15). I love outdoor activities like hitting the beach, hiking, cycling, etc. I like plants and baseball. My greatest wish would be for world peace and I hope I win the swimsuit competition. |
